Mixed Borders

Mixed Borders

Traditionally a mixed border is an informal combination of different seasonal plants that gives a garden a more natural look.  Think of a static, formal garden framed with ever changing, soft, drift plantings.

In my view, the mixed border is all about contrasts and keepingfudgegardenspeter.com/ concept, it’s organic, relaxed, informal, homely and unique.  However making each drift too small will create a furry look.  There’s a fine art in developing drifts in relation to the garden space and working with a plant palette that creates an interesting array of colour, texture, form and light.  Not to mention the shape of the drift!
